Tumalo Lavender Farm Event Recap
Back in August we both set a goal to reach out to local businesses regularly to make connections & meet new people. Tumalo Lavender was a business that we had both heard fantastic things about and thought it would be a great place to connect with the community.
When they agreed to have us be vendors at their “End of Season” party we were so excited! It would be our first public event so naturally there was a lot of nerves and also excitement. We both gained so much insight on how public events tend to flow- from learning how much time we need for a full set up and breakdown, to us both rushing around in the trailer and how to split up tasks-it was all eye opening and so much fun!
This was an RSVP only event, with the cap being 150 max people. But due to a high demand, the organizers raised the cap to 200, then 250, and then finally 300 people!! While intimidating to think about serving that many people drinks out of our little trailer, we were so excited the event was such a huge success! Most people did come despite a bit of rain, and we got to serve them beer, apple cider, hot chocolate, mocktails, and seltzers.
We did SO MUCH preparation for this event- Annabelle scoured the internet for the best deals on cups, lids, beverage percolators and more, as well as creating and curating the menu. Kayley spent lots of time on the phone with the OLCC, getting our permits approved just in time, and was in long email chains figuring out all the day's details for the event. We were both running all over town trying to gather all the other things we needed to make sure we were 100% prepared for this big event. Despite it all, this is what makes owning Juniper Moon so fun- being at these events is exactly what we were envisioning when we purchased the trailer back in January. It feels SO GOOD to finally be up and running!!!
One funny thing that happened was with the parking situation; the morning of the event Annabelle was going to the library to print the menus and going to the store to get the last few items needed to make the mocktails we had on the menu. Kayley was driving to Bend to pick up the trailer from a venue we had it at the night before for a Halloween party. When we both got to the farm, they had high hopes for us to drive down a makeshift ramp and onto a grassy lawn area that was off the road. We decided that wouldn't work because of the angle we’d have to back it down at, so we pivoted and decided to squeeze it through an opening at the other end of the lawn between some boulders and an old parked truck. When we say it was a tight squeeze- there was about a centimeter between the truck bumper and the tires of the trailer, but we got it in and out with no issue! It just took some patience and Kayley’s expert driving skills!
Thank you to the Tumalo Lavender team for having us and being such amazing, positive people! If you missed this event but would still like to check out the farm, we are excited to be back December 6th for their Holiday Makers Market!
